As a retired structural research and development designer with over 40 years of professional experience in sheet metal fabrication and manufacturing metallurgy, I am writing this to provide an objective, technical warning to prospective buyers of the Royal Gourmet GA5404S.After just over three years of standard, covered residential use, this unit suffered a catastrophic structural failure. The core firebox basin (Main Body, Part #18) completely corroded and crumbled beneath the center burner. Because the metallurgy failed so severely, the structural grease pan brackets (Parts #31 and #32) sheared entirely off the chassis frame and fell to the ground.This is not normal wear-and-tear. It points directly to the use of inferior, thin-gauge, low-purity sheet metal that lacks the proper alloy composition to withstand standard thermal cycling and grease exposure. While this company wraps its marketing in an American flag, lists a corporate office in Buford, Georgia, and claims to support American jobs, consumers need to look at the reality of what they are buying.When I contacted customer service regarding this safety defect, the responses arrived in the dead of night (1:00 AM standard time) routed through an overseas proxy server (xsell.co). The overseas team casually brushed off this fire hazard by stating they "do not sell a main body" and offered zero accountability. The Buford office is clearly a pass-through shell for low-grade imports.Beyond the financial disappointment of a short product lifespan, this structural collapse represents an immediate safety hazard. With the floor of the firebox completely missing, open flames and uncontained boiling grease now radiate directly downward onto the lower cabinet, the gas regulator hose, and the liquid propane tank itself.Due to their restrictive 1-year warranty and total lack of structural replacement parts, this grill is now dangerous scrap metal. I am currently utilizing my own fabrication shop and R&D background to engineer a custom 14-gauge 304 stainless steel liner to fix their shoddy work safely. I strongly advise consumers to stay far away from Royal Gourmet and invest their money in a reputable brand that utilizes heavy-gauge American/Canadian manufacturing standards and offers transparent domestic support.
